It’s not often that a cosmetics brand catches your attention, especially in such a competitive market. Make-up, cosmetics and skincare are so accessible and are constantly evolving, so much so that sometimes when a new brand launches, you can be forgiven for thinking that they might just be another generic beauty brand in what is slowly becoming a saturated market.
I love an innovative cosmetics brand that can hold its own, that stands out from the crowd and is a little bit different
I love an innovative cosmetics brand that can hold its own, that stands out from the crowd and is a little bit different. With cool packaging, quirky names and products that deliver.
They are meant to be touched, smooshed, traveled with, cherished, and shared until their packages are crinkly and dirty and can literally give no more
So how are cult US beauty brand Glossiers’ products different from other beauty brands? Well in Glossier’s own words, ‘Our products reflect our belief that beauty should be fun, easy, imperfect, and personal. Our formulas are designed to live with you, not on you, and enhance what you already have. They are meant to be touched, smooshed, traveled with, cherished, and shared until their packages are crinkly and dirty and can literally give no more. They represent fun and freedom, and are the result of years of recommendations from the coolest girls on the planet.’ I mean, what an amazing ethos, right?!
Glossier was founded by Emily Weiss (remember her brief stint in The Hills as an intern working with Lauren in Teen Vogue?) who also started the fashion and beauty blog Into the Gloss. Personally, I love the name Glossier, even just down to the pronunciation of the word, which sounds so stylish and chic.
The product range stands out for being different, it’s not filled with every single product imaginable in every possible shade. It is instead carefully curated to include much needed staple products, along with those which are that little bit different with certain products already reaching cult status.
Like a lot of people, I was mega excited when I heard that Glossier was launching in the UK and I couldn’t wait to try it out, based on word of mouth and social media hype alone!
Whilst I have not yet purchased or tried out every single product by Glossier, the ones I have, I have fallen in love with. I am excited when a new product launches, I love the little testers which arrive along with the coolest transparent pink bubble wrap pouch and Glossier stickers. The price point is really reasonable as well, so it’s easy to build your collection.
At the moment, I have the Cloud Paint in shade Puff, the Original and Birthday Balm Dotcom, the priming moisturiser, Boy Brow in shade Brown and the Glossier You eau de parfum. I have a wish list of other products I would love to purchase and will be constantly adding to my collection.
I simply adore the perfume, which is a mix of ambrette, musk and pink pepper combined with a few other base and top notes
Out of all the products, it’s hard to pick a favourite. I simply adore the perfume, which is a mix of ambrette, musk and pink pepper combined with a few other base and top notes. One of the ingredients of the perfume, is in fact you, hence the name. For this very reason, it means that the scent smells different on everyone who wears it. I am currently wearing this perfume every day. It’s so soft, clean and feminine and as soon as I approach the end of this bottle, I shall be rushing online to purchase more.
The balms have become a necessity, I carry one with me at all times in my handbag
The Boy Brow is a must have for me also, having used similar products by Benefit and MAC, I did wonder whether this could live up to the hype and believe me, it does. I wear this alone during the day or as the first step in my eyebrow routine, to add fluffiness and depth to my brows and I honestly think I’d be lost without this now.
The balms have become a necessity, I carry one with me at all times in my handbag and I particularly love the subtle sheen and scent that comes with the Birthday Balm Dotcom. Cake anyone?
I have just bought the Priming Moisturiser and so far, so good. It’s a lightweight cream with a lotion consistency. It does appear to prep the skin well for make-up, my foundation appears to last that little bit longer and I appear to have less of a shiny forehead to contend with later in the day. Always a bonus when you’ve got an oily T-zone like I do!
I know I have mentioned this before, but I absolutely adore Glossier’s super cute Instagrammable packaging
I know I have mentioned this before, but I absolutely adore Glossier’s super cute Instagrammable packaging, I love the black chunky text on the clean white background and the use of millennial baby pink and block colour. I am also coveting the grey Glossier Sweatshirt right now and shall hopefully have treated myself to one before the Winter is out.
So yes, maybe at the moment I’m a total Glossier groupie
Speaking of Instagram, I love love love following Glossier on there, seeing their posts and Insta stories. I lust after their office décor and love the natural and real beauty of the models used on their website and social media. So yes, maybe at the moment I’m a total Glossier groupie, but when a brand excites you this much and you enjoy using their products, is that really such a bad thing?
